Technical description of the Kl-60 coalescer
Characteristics of coalescer:
dispersion medium (continuous) – water;
• dispersed phase - oil product;
· производительность по воде 60 м?/час;
• separation of oil products from water by gravity;
capturing droplets of oil products with a size of 50 microns or more;
• automatic separation and withdrawal of petroleum products;
• coalescence plates of oleophilic stainless steel;
capture and accumulation of mechanical contaminants (sludge).
The principle of coalescence
The separation of petroleum products and water depends on the magnitude of the difference in the densities of the hydrocarbon phase and water, and the size of dispersed droplets of petroleum products in water.
The described coalescer works on the gravitational principle, so hydrocarbons dissolved in water and stable emulsions do not separate.
Description of the work of the coalescer
The volumetric pump delivers a mixture of water and petroleum products into a horizontal plate coalescer. Pump rotations should be low enough to prevent the formation of an emulsion. Inside the coalescer, the speed of the mixture decreases, is leveled along the front and a uniform laminar flow is supplied to the coalescence plate module.
The coalescer is designed in such a way that the necessary characteristic dimensions ensure the movement of water by a laminar flow.
The design of coalescence plates of this installation ensures the capture of droplets of oil products of 50 μm or more in size.
The coalescence plate module consists of a set of oleophilic plates with small gaps between the plates. The plates are installed at an angle to the horizon in the plane of the transverse direction of water movement. Water flows through the package horizontally, drops of oil rise up and fall on the lower side of the plates.
Drops in contact with their surface wet it, hold, merge into large drops, eventually forming a film on the lower surface of the plates. Further, large drops rise to the upper section of the plates, leave the plates, rise to the upper part of the coalescer where they accumulate.
At the entrance to the coalescer, a mechanical filter with a grid of 1 mm should be installed to prevent large mechanical contaminants from entering the coalescer.
Mechanical contaminants that have passed the inlet filter fall down in the laminar flow of water, fall on the upper side of the plates, roll down the surface of the plates and accumulate in the bottom part of the coalescer in the form of sludge, silt.
Oil products caught by coalescer are collected in the upper, cumulative part of the sepator. The level of oil products is measured by a leveler.
When oil products reach the lower level of the storage device, the system automatically opens the valve on the oil product discharge line and outputs the product until the phase separation level of the upper level of the storage device is reached.
Module coalescence plates removable, easily cleaned from dirt and sludge water under pressure or hot steam. Coalescent plates of stainless steel, removable.
To clean the coalescer from sludge in the lower part of the apparatus, flange leads and an audit hatch are provided.
In the opposite case, when the dispersion medium is an oil product, the dispersed phase is water, the coalescence plates are covered with an oleophobic coating.
